eclecticmuses :: Write a letter to your younger self.

Dear Miss Hermione Jean Granger,

Dentistry isn’t the profession for you! Oh, I absolutely understand if that comes as a shock to you, but really, it’s better in the long run if you know in advance that your aspirations to become a dentist simply aren’t meant to be. This will all make sense later, but for the time being, do stop staring at your bicuspids! They’re not that bad, and besides, Mum and Dad are going to be putting you through the grueling process of orthodontics soon.

You actually need to become more interested in magic. No, I don’t mean the David Copperfield specials - those are all a bunch of rubbish! Remember Halloween last year when you dressed up as a witch and threw glitter on everyone, waving your wand about, saying you could do magic? I need you to hold onto that line of reasoning. I know it’s difficult, especially when you end up spending a lot of time at the office with Mum and Dad. But, at least be open-minded, okay? Oh, you might not know what that means yet. Look it up in the dictionary in Dad’s study.

I also want you to spend lots of time with your parents. Oh, I know the camping trips aren’t that much fun, but you’ll learn to appreciate those times later. Spend lots of time with them - take lots of pictures and make sure to hug them and be kind. They’re going to let you grow up to do some amazing things, and they won’t get to see very much of you. Oh, and make sure you pay really close attention to Mum when she teaches you to knit - you’ll make a lot of socks for a good cause when you’re older.

Love,
Hermione
