Tree Ninjas!

So yesterday was much fun. Got a decent night's sleep (yay!), then headed out to the boonies for fun and frolic with aryaluna and onomojaku. After WAY too much effort, we finally found me a new sewing machine, which they generously helped fund in return for making them cool clothes. Amazingly, I've actually not set it up yet, but tonight, definitely. Then work on my corset and the other half dozen projects I've got in the wings can begin. :-) Squee! New toy! Shopping was followed by beading fun, as aryaluna mentioned. I definitely need to go to the gem show when it's next in town, cuz damn, the stuff she got's purty. Need to get more of the basic supplies, too, my stash is dwindling. Yay for making pretties!

Headed back inside the beltway to meet adderyn to see Elektra, which didn't suck. It certainly wasn't a paragon of cinematic excellence or anything, but for what it's worth, it was amusing. Thanks to a comment made by aryaluna earlier in the day, I kept picturing the Crocodile Hunter whispering, in his cheesy Australian accent, "If we're very quiet, we might just catch a glimpse of the elusive Asian Tree Ninjas!" It made me giggle. ;-)

Now I'm back at work after my wonderful four day weekend. *sigh* It's damn cold. Apparently Fairfax and Prince Georges County schools are on a two-hour delay today because of the cold. *rolls eyes* C'mon folks, bundle up! It's not that hard! Sheesh, it's not even below zero. Yeah, it's cold, but it's not like you can't do something about it. Kids in Minnesota go to school when it's twenty below and there's five feet of snow on the ground! When I was your age, I had to go to school in all weather! And walk BAREFOOT because we couldn't afford shoes! And it was uphill BOTH WAYS!! Er something. ;-)

Of course, they're predicting snow this week, so everyone's freaking out. Of course, no one's mentioning that accumulations aren't supposed to top more than an inch or so. It's so amusing - Virginia gets snow every year, and every year they freak out and act like it's the end of the world. Wimps. ;-)

In other news, someone has stolen 3.6 million nickels. How and why are still a mystery. So, if someone steals 3.6 million nickels, how does he cash them in without attracting attention? Police say it would have to be done very slowly, in small amounts and at many different places, like grocery store counting machines. And even if he were able to cash in $500 worth of nickels every day, it would still take an entire year. *boggle*

In still other news, the work web filters have now decided to block my.msn.com - which is just msn.com but filtered through your own personal preferences as to content, location, etc. *rolls eyes* They're calling it "web-based email" which is ludicrous, since it's NOT. It's just a more specialized version of msn.com! Idiots. I put a service request in to have it unblocked; not that it really matters, but it's annoying. Fuckers.
