I really enjoyed looking at those photos after such a long time.
Sadness, too, as so many in the family photos (that I didn't upload) have now died.
But that's life, innit?
I didn't realise it back then, but I really was very pretty. Probably a good thing that I didn't realise, because I've always been a generally nice person. If people had made more of a fuss of me, I mightn't have turned out the way I did. ~~By which I mean that I'm not bragging about how I turned out. I'm ok, and I'm generally decent, but I can be a bit of a bitch on occasion. I just didn't grow up with any impression that I was anything but overweight and plain - but with beautiful eyes, as people kept stressing, in order to overcome my hideousness at being a size 14.
Yes.
size 14 (10 to you US - types).
And yes, I think that my face seems warmer and kinder these days because I am 3 years old and I've experienced awful pain and loss - and I'm still here. And, of course, I fell into a job that involves young people with the most profound disabilities, and in latching onto that job, I found my vocation. :)
On the size thing - I have a feeling that actually modern clothes are bigger for each size - they seem to me to have slowly crept up - I wouldn't be particularly surprised to find that your size 14 wedding dress would be a pretty good fit on my, modern, size 10 daughter.
