Most of my hippy friends are wishing they could justify voting for Nader, but will probably vote Obama. I don't know. In my opinion the Republicans had 7 years to flush our country down the tubes with some of the worst choices in American history (Iraq, foreign policy in general, Katrina, economic regulatory meltdown (though frankly the Dems are ( Read more... )

Ron Paul was hilarious! And strangely adorable in a grandfather figure kind of way.

I'm with you on this one. Have you seen McCain's plan for the environment? I had some hope in that and then I actually read it. Boo.

Dude, Biden's different? Strategists on both sides said "Here's what you don't have. Here's someone who has that. Congratulations, they're your new best friend".

The difference is that Biden is solid on policy on all fronts. It may be politically motivated, but he can actually do the job.

Except the Vice President doesn't have a job. The only responsibility is to fly the flag at international functions and make sure the fly is always zipped. Nothing's changed in the sixty plus years since John Nance Garner summarized the position so succinctly.

That is funny.
Have you seen John Adams? Cool show.
He/she breaks ties in the Senate.
He often stands in as head of state for official functions that the president cannot attend.
The office is frequently used as a spring board for a presidential campaign.
Most obviously the vice becomes the president if the president is incapacitated... which for McCain was a 33% chance he would die or become disabled during his first term.
Otherwise the office is highly dependent on the dynamic between the President and the vice-president. Some vice's are heavily involved in setting policy and attend all the cabinet meetings, others are used solely as errand boys and attend funerals.

I'm sure you knew all that and were just being silly.
