Minor updates
A couple of minor updates to add to my post flood from the last couple of days.
I called Verizon about a number of problems unrelated to my broken screen. Every couple of weeks for a few days at a time the phone reboots when it syncs with my corporate mail and calendar. I have found this to be annoying because the phone chimes when it reboots, but particularly because I have missed several important calls during this reboot interval. The other problem is that it seems to be randomly turning itself on and this is causing the battery to run down faster than I would like.
So the rep has me give it a hard reset, which I do, forgetting that during the setup it is going to ask me to calibrate the screen... which doesn't work... at all... so they call Palm and ask if there is any way to bypass the calibration and there isn't... so the phone is stuck there. The wireless is turned off and it is good for nothing now. So they are sending me a replacement... free of charge. I am pleased. I will be using my old phone for a few days. Don't make fun of me.
I am getting my carpets cleaned on Thursday. I am very excited.
I am going to get my bloody htpc working the way I want it too. I think the problem I am having is permissions based because when I start the myth modules with root everything works right, but when I start the modules using the tv user account the sound doesn't work right among other things. Also the remote doesn't work and I can't get access to my windows file server so I think this is some kind of Samba issue. I just need to spend some time working on it. Oh yeah, and be less ignorant about Linux.
New episodes of House, MD starting September 11 on Fox. Sweet. I am thinking about turning off the cable for a month because we aren't hardly watching it anymore. Nothing is on! I need to keep it on long enough to fix my Myth box though or wait another month to fix it, since I kind of need a cable signal to test it with.
I started a new carpool. We leave Kirkland at 6:45 am. Oy. I am getting to work at about 7:15ish though and staying until 4:25 pm. Much longer days. I was actually in bed and post coital last night before 11 pm! A frickin' record!
