I was driving over to my parents' house last night around 2am, and almost rolled over something in the road that looked like a big turtle. I backed up my car, got out to take a look and sure enough, it was a turtle! It was nearly a foot long. I didn't want to just leave it there. I thought it might try to bite me or shit on me, so I got a towel and grabbed it by it's sides. The poor thing was frightened and stayed in it's shell the whole time. I placed him in my passenger seat wrapped in the towel and continued over to my parents' house. I figured they might know what to do with him. Luckily nobody had gone to sleep just yet, so I wasn't waking them up. My dad suggested that I just go bring the turtle to the canal. So, I got back in my car and placed him on the side of the canal on W. Esplanade, not too far away (it would have been a good few days walk for that turtle though).
Weird. I thought for a moment about keeping it as a pet, but I don't have anything to keep turtles in, especially a turtle of it's size. I did think though, that maybe caring for a pet is something missing from my life. Maybe when I get the house cleaned up a little more and have my self a little more organized, I'll consider getting a much smaller turtle that I can keep in a tank in my room. It'd be much better than having a cat or a dog that wants to get into everything and get hair all over the place.
I've been going through a lot of my old kid's stuff lately. Going through my old room at my parents is like being on a treasure hunt. I have all of these great memories as a kid. I had a ton of comic books, and that's what I've been looking through lately. I want to see what they're worth, and I've actually been reading a few of them. They've been mostly sealed up since the flood of May 1995. My brother and I lost a good number of our comics in the flood. It's dissapointing to see that I have a few missing parts to some series likely to due to the flood. I'll have like issues 1-5 and 7-13 and be missing #6. I bet it'd be easier to sell these comic books in series too.
peace,
Frank
