Battlefield Defined.

Ahhh, some of you guys will remember the eldest daughter Stef, and the issues we have regarding school. Well, I can tell you the battlefield has been chosen and positions have been established.

What was it she declared as her mountain to die on you ask? It was being suspended for not participating in an extra study group of a class she is passing now. Math again.

In short she had 2 math classes to attend, which means she goes to math everyday rather than every other. Then there was some mix up for her to attend an extra 30 min period a day for no credit in which she refused. In her words, if they had offered her the science portion to do she would accept, but not another math since she has been passing the whole year. They refused to see her point. She said she would sit there but not participate. And around they go, for two weeks.

Yesterday, this all came to a head... the final stand off. The head of students said that she was suspended for not participating and that when she came back today she would be held at school until she turned in a mock TAKS test (that she already passed above school score average) and to plan on staying up until midnight.

Well, personally I knew she was out there, on the Titanic, alone and no life preserver. So, I spent a good part of my day getting home school information. She will begin on Tuesday when the shipment gets in. She can return to school next fall with the opportunity to get all the credits she needs to enroll as a junior.

There we have it. We found a solution that has the potential to get a fresh perspective. Here we dont have an alternative learning center or optional paths for the kids that are not comfortable in the mass setting. We at least have a new start and a fresh outlook.

In the end, we are all alive. Thank you all for the kind words.
