Taking this and your past two SS stories into account, I am in awe of your creativity. It's amazing to me how you come up with such ingenious situations, insert them into otherwise depressing parts of canon, and create such happy, believable endings.
I started giggling when I read the first diary entry and saw the money amounts. Can't anyone in AI do math??
Lines I particularly like or that made me giggle:
"No man or woman in their right mind would let a vampire suck their blood voluntarily... Willow, stop stomping on my feet!"
Buffy hastily retreated to another stand before the urge to kill that woman became overpowering.
I argued that Spike was a one-woman man, and I'm satisfied - yes, thoroughly satisfied!
Hee, I'll bet she's satisfied.
If they enjoy regular leeches -- tiny, ugly and utterly devoid of sex-appeal -- how do you think they would react to a brutally handsome, devastatingly sexy, thoroughly masculine leech -- who is immortal, by the way?"
Such an apt description of him...
"The only man who has a skull thicker than yours is Xander." She thought it over. "Well, Buffy may give you two a run for your money... All in all, adults are morons." "Fat? You really think I'm getting fat?"
Dawn is such a gem in this fic! I love that we get S6 Dawn&Spike friendship.
He sniffed her and smirked. "I think if I bite you anywhere my grandpops will stake me. You're his woman, aren't you?" "Yep. And he's my man."
Awww, Cordy/Angel! Love to see the fic of them getting from "Birthday" to less crazy and in love.
"Spike. You know, blue eyes, bleached hair, nasty jokes and miraculous bodily fluids if you believe the hype."
Also such a good way to describe him.
"Pity regular men don't practice such useful kinks as sending huge sums of money to the women they love," Cordelia said.
"Stop! Spike doesn't go anywhere!" "Why?" Angel asked. "Because I say so."
Hee, I love bossy, irrational Buffy.
"You didn’t have time? You live under the same roof!"
"Let me guess. You didn't tell them because you were afraid of their slut-shaming."
Sing it, Cordy.
"I thought that was my job," Giles murmured.
Bwaha!
"I'm okay," she whispered. "You saved me." "Good," he said and passed out. "I love you," she muttered. It was so easy to say these words when he was unconscious and couldn't spoil the moment with some stupid Spike-ism.
Flailing here! It is so Spike of him to be so chivalrous and so Buffy of her to only tell him when he's unconscious! Love it!
but Giles and Ethan Rayne went to talk upstairs and took the bottle to keep them company.
Bwaha!
Was her voice really *that* sad and desperate? She heard a commotion behind her and opened her eyes. "I said, sit still, moron, if you don't want me to cut you in half!" Angel snapped. "There's still one bullet left..." "Why did you say it, Summers?" Spike said. "To mock me?"
Aww, Spike, she loves you! I love that Spike is so insecure as to not believe it, and Angel's presences makes it even better.
The main attraction is her former classmate Harmony Kendall. Time to sing "God save America".
Priceless!!
This fic is adorable and just made of win. I love Spike and Anya's friendship, I love Anya period (she is so ingenious and resourceful!), I love Buffy's jealousy, I love the Spike&Dawn parts, I love that Xander isn't filled with jealous rage and tries to get back in Anya's good graces, I love Giles/Ethan, I love Lydia's cameo, I love Angel's bluster, I love Cordy, and I love the references to Africa and how you manage to get souls into your S6 AUs. Thank you for this. It made me so smile so much!
Oh - I'm such a sucker for long, detailed comments (although I rarely do it myself.)

Frankly, the majority of set-ups get conceived as a result of reading fanforums. People have such unusual, eccentric interpretations of multiple cracks in the canon. People argue about the most strange "what-ifs". What if the monks made Dawn from Faith's DNA? What if Spike visited Sunnydale in Cordelia's Wish-verse? What if Halfrek arrived in Sunnydale a year earlier? What if Dawn'd "keyness" was a factor that could be passed from one person to another? What if Scoobies used Orlon's window to restore their memories in "Tabula Rasa"? What if Faith didn't remember her evil deeds in season 3 - would she be considered a different person?
(These are some of "what-ifs" I used in my fics).
What if Cathy, Buffy's roommate in "Living Conditions" actually stole Buffy's soul? What if Buffy traded bodies with Dru instead of Faith?
(These two - I'm slowly circling around them, looking for a Spuffy-centric twists and turns).
Sometimes fanboards can be exasperating, but I can't stop going there, because I find such gems among the heated debates. :)
But "Leech" is one of a few fics that started with an "outside" idea - the article about Demi Moore that I quote in the text. I kept it in my "ideas" folder for a long time, made several attempts to break down a plot, and, finally, realized that it should happen in "Birthday-verse" - a verse where I can mock not only poor Buffy and Spike, but the whole Hollywood system . From then on, it went pretty smoothly - although I was rewriting some lines practically 5 minutes before posting :)
Thank you again for your generous feedback - I appreciate it. A lot.

o_O
I NEED THAT FIC NOW. Holy crap that could be awesome. Even if it were set in a different time period, like post-NFA when Spuffy was an established relationship, the tension and angst would be phenomenal.
*hopefully* Maybe you'll find the inspiration to write it? Srsly, I'd be the first one to read and rec your story - you know how much I love your stuff.
I wanted to place it in season 4, but, so far, I couldn't break down a story with a really good twist. Maybe you'll be luckier.
