That's NOT Doctor Who's 'phone box'. The TARDIS is a dark blue Police Box.

Oops. Thank you for correcting me.

I watch Dr.Who and Torchwood sporadically, I'm not well-versed in Whoverse mythology. I assumed that TARDIS can change its color.

The guy looks like David Tennant and the girl looks like Billie Piper, so, back in 2007 I thought it was an homage. Now, when Angel decided to bring Giles back, I started to think it was a foreshadowing, or even a set-up for Angel's future time-travelling story.

BTW, Rebekah Isaaks has comfirmed, that child!Giles on the last panel was specified in the script.

That was definitely a shout out to David Tennant & Billie Piper as the 10th Doctor and Rose, but not the TARDIS (which was mildly confusing but not really important). I was never sure if the artist was just having some fun in that one or if it would end up being paid off in the future writing.... still don't know.

Looks like now I know my first question to George Jeanty (the artist of BtVS) during the next session :)

I assumed that TARDIS can change its color.

It was supposed to be able to but its chameleon circuit, which gives it the power to blend in with its surroundings, broke in 1963 when it was impersonating a police box and the Doctor has never managed to fix it.

the Doctor has never managed to fix it.

Maybe he finally did? ;)

Well, he hadn't fixed it as of David Tennant's regeneration into Matt Smith, so even if it is The Doctor in the picture it's not the TARDIS.

I think it was just one of Georges' Easter eggs. Dark Horse couldn't include the Doctor in their comics because, ironically enough, the comicbook rights to that character are currently held by IDW. :-)

Time travel could work if it's explained as "scientific" rather than magical. Alternatively, some sort of time paradox could be set up where the spell is cast at a point in time where magic still exists (such as Giles's childhood?), but takes effect in the present day. (I used that idea in my own recent Hiywan fic, so I'm claiming credit if they use that. :D)

It never occurred to me that it could be about licencing rights. It does make sense. Thanks!

I asked Gage if time-travel still exists; he replied -- yes, if it doesn't include magic.

Very interesting spec! Angel's words about "opening his eyes" may be significant. Maybe that day (that Angel now remembers) Giles and Jenny were talking about child-Giles trying to set up a time-travel spell or something like that? And he could use it?
