"There's a reason I loved you the moment I saw you. There's a reason we can't be happy with anyone else. And there's a reason your whole body is glowing right now. And there's a reason that despite all the power coursing through me, what I feel right now is weak. I'm terrified you'll go. You'll leave before we have a chance to explore what this

I also have the impression is that Joss' God is the story. Is it good or bad thing? I don't know. I thoroughly enjoy his stories as long as I don't get invested into characters much. But if I'm really invested, it becomes sheer torture. I was on the verge of becoming a full-fledged "Dollhouse" fan when the show was cancelled. The only thing that kept me from delving deeper was Echo and ED bashing I met online. I went through fandom wars as a Spike and Spuffy fan, it took me several years to find an online niche where I feel comfortable, and I didn't want to go through the same experience again. There is something about Joss stuff that makes people really, deeply involved. He comes up with the most ridiculous plot twists and somehow they work, and I'm eager to suspend my disbelief.
in what universe does he go for their help after being chipped and in what universe do the Scoobies not kill him?
Yes, but Joss does it all the time, since early seasons. For example, Joyce should have gone to FBI when she discovered that a foreign organization exploits her daughter :)
Back to comics, I honestly don't know how to deal with season 8 revelations. Maybe in hindsight they will prove to be great stuff. Right now I'm confused. Part of me dreams about a Faith spinoff. Part of me absolutely dreads it.

I'd go bad, a story has to be grounded in characterisation and motivation.

Yeah, I lurked. I got the idea the ED bashing was fuelled by the not wanting to blame Whedon for the dodgy and ill-thought concept.

Yeah, never seen the point. It makes my eyes roll when I see people reviewing fan fic to tell them the ships they're writing don't work. If you don't like, don't read.

Well there we differ, I think he sacrifices characterisation and motivation, they don't work.
For me at least.

That and his over-riding arrogance (comments about Batman and Terminator etc ) , general morality presented in his programming, are what turned me off his stuff.

I dreaded it at the end of Season 7, for reasons you'd probably disagree with.

You know, I started writing a long comment in Joss' defence, but then decided against it. We both know we can't change each other's opinions. Let's focus on the positive things. Have you seen these?

I be more tolerant of his failings as a writer (he did create some of my favourite characters) if a) he wasn't such an ass and b) his more fanatic supporters (not yourself) didn't accuse people who didn't like his stuff as stupid etc. And while Whedon doesn't cause these people to act the way they do, he does play to the gallery...
Out of interest, are you a Supernatural fan?

I have thank you, they're from Monday's night presentation of 'Live In Public'
Eliza's done a Family Guy episode and some other voice work this week.

I watch it occasionally, but I avoid the fandom, although many of my BtVS friends have drifted there. To me SPN fandom is too extreme. I'm okay with slash and I even wrote one Spangel ficlet, but Wincest squicks me.

I try to follow her on Twitter, but I usually get her news on Russian Buffy/Angel community. Luckily, both mods there are big Faith and ED's fans.

Yeah, the SPN fandom's appalling, I watched a couple of episodes was meh on it, but went into the fandom and ran away screaming. Then my best mate got into it, and nagged me into watching it.
It's brilliant, as close as anything as a cross between American Gothic and Angel. Really noir and the bloke who plays Dean is fantastic, Sam not so much.
Still stay away from the fandom itself though. I imagine it's only got worse with the addition of Castiel.
