"Because I was scared. Because Buffy had failed to kill him once, and it cost us dearly. Because I didn't want her dead."

So right, so true. Well except the third sentence! :D

"I tell you this," Xander says hoarsely. "You kill an innocent baby and that is the beginning of the end of the world."

That's also true. Buffy for once was right when she refused to kill Dawn to save the world and is utterly wrong to think that just because the child is unimportant to HER, its death doesn't matter. The world is ultimately corrupted by the murder of an innocent to save it.

Is that sarcasm? :)

Buffy is in a horrible situation. Either she kills her friend or she doesn't stop the world's end. It's a lose-lose. No matter what she does she's a bad guy. No wonder she totally hates the situation and snaps at everybody.

Nope, I cared about the world. By this point in canon I couldn't care less about Buffy, just her and Angelus' victims.

Shrug. She wouldn't even consider it when it was her innocent sister, when it's Faith's innocent baby it's slash, slash until Xander stands up to her.

Unsurprisingly, no sympathy. :D

It's one thing to send soldiers into a hopeless battle, holding off the enemy, knowing that they'll all die, but that their sacrifice means you'll be able to save a lot more people, then it is to calmly kill an innocent because in doing so, you're saving the world ( ... )

The former signed up for the job

Only in a professional army. (Just saying...)

Anybody who chooses to kill an innocent, with the excuse that it's to save the world, is already corrupting themselves.

Okay, but the other option is still worse, isn't it?

The way I see it, the difference between Buffy and other members of Scooby gang is that she has already experienced a similar situation when she had sent Angel to hell. After that incident she knows that sometimes you can only choose the lesser of two evils. This is the Buffy I love. The Buffy that sometimes horrifies me. The Buffy who, for me, is the ultimate tragic hero.

It's so strange that you have such a different perception of Buffy and you still like the story written by somebody who loves Buffy. Hopefully the ending won't disappoint you.
