Very interesting development here. Can't (but must) wait to see it unfold. :)

You can't trust a killer and you absolutely can't care about one.

That's right. There is no redemption, Xander. It's a black and white world...except it keeps getting grayer.

Thank you! Remember - the answers are staring you in the face... :)))

Oh, yes. His words about trusting a killer will haunt him. A lot. They already are.

Thanks for commenting, hon. Actually, I'm reading the new chapter of your fic, right now. I'll post comments there as soon as I finish reading.

Oh but I don't want to figure it out. I'm along for the ride. You may steer me in all directions, madame. :D

I really do flip this analytical thinking switch off in my brain when I'm reading. It helps me get lost in the story. I want to connect emotionally.

The foreshadowing of Willow's fall and magic addiction is great and something the show sadly lacked.

Really hoping the baby Xander's worrying about is his. :D

Thank you! I thought a lot about Willow's character arc for this story (and I have to confess I sent Tara away because I couldn't come up with anything interesting for her character). As to Willow, I always had the impression that her addiction has been more about power than about magic. Magic was a means to achieve the power. Her ability to be more clever than Giles tickles her ego.
Ironically, Xander has a similar moment in chapter 1, when he helps Giles with the computer. I know that feeling very well - I taught my granny to use her first PC and I regularly felt all-powerful :)

Really hoping the baby Xander's worrying about is his. :D

My lips are sealed. I can only hope I won't dissappoint you.

"As to Willow, I always had the impression that her addiction has been more about power than about magic. "

I strongly agree, Willow was always about improving her social position, wether through knowledge, friends, or magic.

At least until she learnt her lesson.

"My lips are sealed. I can only hope I won't dissappoint you."

I'm sure the story won't, you on the other hand.... :D

The baby is Dawn, probably. But is Xander the designated father?

The mystery deepens.

I am really really enjoying this so far.

I was squirming uncomfortably right along with Xander as he tried to get information from Willow without incriminating himself. Not to mention the guilt he's feeling over his feelings for Faith. I think I winced right along with Xander when Willow said he was the only one who was squeaky clean.

This is getting really good. :) Keep it up.

Thank you! These are the reactions I hoped to get. This is the story where everybody lies and everybody has the reasons. And, of course, all the lies will eventually be revealed and a lot of cringing will ensue :)

Oh Lord! Everyone is keeping secrets from each other and the world just gets grayer.

I also thought the whole magic addiction plot line was so stupid. It wasn't the magic that was the problem but Willow herself.

Oh, yes. I think that season 5 is a watershed in BtVS mythology and ideology. For the first time Buffy has faced the the situations when she had to choose the lesser of two (or more) evils. I decided that it would be interesting to explore Xander's and Willow's behavior in similar circumstances.

It wasn't the magic that was the problem but Willow herself.

Agree. I adore Willow for her flaws. I can easily identify with her. I think her insecurity is the driving force of everything good and bad that happens to her.
