Two weeks after the author reveal, I'm finally managing to mirror my last Yuletide fic. This one came up in the post-deadline snowstorm of pinch hit requests. It's sad to see that Santa hasn't visited your friends, and I knew that andantecantible would appreciate getting a Yuzuru Hanyu fic even if it sucked. After some dithering, I tagged this in AO3 as "

Bits like In the shuttle from the rink, Yuzuru wanted to escape his own thoughts, to achieve the crucial point where he was only his body and the music, with no pressure or doubts in between and He hadn't known the song yet then, but a person could feel music without knowing it are so beautiful. I wonder if you got the idea from some of his interviews/fluff pieces? I remember Google-translating an article a while ago that talked about this. I guess I should starting learning Japanese? ;)

I am really happy you liked it. The characterization definitely comes from the way he answers very standard questions in interviews. Who are his biggest rivals? He doesn't even think about that, because it would affect his skating. And he does become a totally different person on the ice, like he's in a whole other world.

If you study standard textbook Japanese, his accent will be tough, because he has a pretty thick Tohoku (northeastern) twang. That's where I lived, so unlike with certain other skaters (mumblemumble Dai-chan) I don't have to re-listen seven times to figure out what he said.
