A gift from the coffee fairy.

1. Most important bullet point: I think my new hair artist might be even more amazing and fabulous than my old hair artist. (The previous styliste moved away; I'm still at the same salon.) First time with a new styliste is like a first date, but I think we did all right.

1a. Hey, thistle90: Sirius XM has an entire IMR station and I was stuck listening to it for 3 hours.

2. The Liberty Open is in progress. For those of you new to figure skating, Liberty is the biggest and highest-profile of the United States summer competitions for everything except ice dance. It's an official USFSA monitoring event, so a lot of skaters premiere their new programs here. If a skater does especially well here, they might get an international assignment they weren't expecting. And a lot of skaters go who don't have to: Patrick Chan does Liberty every year, just to get his blades under him, and Ashley Wagner just premiered her short program. Apparently, they were the two big highlights of the competition so far, and Chan landed a quad. The fabulous Sylvia is tweeting real-time results and compiling scores. Aunt Joyce is there, snarking about pairs and insisting Zhang and Toth were robbed. There's no YouTube yet that I know of, but one fan in particular usually posts them a week or two after the competition.

Apparently this little force of nature, Emmanuel Savary, was one of the other big revelations, skating to Michael Jackson and placing 3rd in the Junior Men's SP at age 12. Alex Johnson, who you might recognize from chronic Twitterflirting with Drew Meekins, landed his first 3A in competition and reportedly had a great skate overall. Other sweet young things to watch out for: Timothy Dolensky, Angela Wang, and Lauren Dinh.

If you're interested, this YT user posted a bunch of videos from this year's Broadmoor Open, another USA summer comp that draws some medium-sized names. Mostly the girls, but also Nathan Chen.

3. And now! Random stuff from the internet! Causing me mild rage is Broadway Bares, which demanded that my favorite gay porn blog remove his enthusiastic review of the event. (The article is work safe, but ads and other posts on the site are very NSFW.) Apparently some publicity is bad publicity. I love DudeTube and often use it to remind myself of the mechanics of body parts I do not possess.

3a. In more heterosexual NSFW news, your boyfriend wants a hand job.

4. YouTubeSpam! I love this parody of straight men's fantasies of lesbians.

Lez Chat from Tig Notaro

A triumph of fruitfly art, in which a celebrity impersonator redoes "Telephone" as Liza Minnelli and Carol Channing.

File under adorable: LEGO men dancing to R.E.M.'s "Stand." (The original video, which I cannot embed, is much trippier than I remember. And wow, 1989 was not kind to Michael Stipe's hair.)

Found while looking for something completely unrelated, a wisely forgotten hit of the early '80s, Patrice Rushen's "Forget Me Nots." Her hair is fabulous.

By now, you have a mixture of "Stand" and "Forget Me Nots" stuck in your head. This charming claymation tale of unicorn/narwhal love will fix that.

5. In conclusion, Ryan Bradley's Ass is a cowboy, and Johnny Weir kind of loves him.
