This is getting repetitive to the point of obvious, but I am busy with work. I wanted to do all this pre-Worlds stuff, but until someone gives me a stipend for that, etc. I'll be going on my end-of-semester hiatus after Worlds, so after this weekend. And back in May for femslash08 festivities! What an awesome thing to be able to come back to.
I am currently watching all of the compulsory dances in order. It is a lot of tangos. Tanith's fall was shockingly violent. I hope she's okay. I hope this doesn't mean Evan's dabbling in the Black Arts again.
Oh, pairs, you were actually kind of exciting! The awesome Chinese almost took it away from the sexy Germans! And then the sexy Germans took it back, the Canadians lived up to their potential, and Pang and Tong proved that they are the past of Chinese pairs skating. Also of note: what is with the sucking, Russia? Would you please retire already, Inoue and Baldwin? Would you please have a birthday, Keauna McLaughlin?
I have five words for the ladies' competition this year. Fucked Up Beyond All Recognition. It would be a cool middle finger to everyone if Carolina Kostner won. For those wondering if this is the end of the road for Kimmie or Miki, well... possibly, but I am remembering Irina circa 1999 and crossing my fingers. Or, you know, Mirai Nagasu is possibly my favorite ladies' skater since Irina, so maybe I'm not crossing my fingers too hard.
I was feeling really optimistic while I was obsessively reloading the Original Dance results, but it looks like it is the French team's turn to win. Stupid ice dance, where you still wait your turn for some stupid reason. I am now rooting for Khokhlova and Novitski just because I'm pissed off.

There have been many nominees for Scariest Sentence in the English Language, but I think I have it: The United States' hopes for a medal are riding on Johnny Weir's shoulders. I actually don't know who I want to win men's. Someone asked me for my dream podium and my brain went into a feedback loop and had to be rebooted. Can I have Stephane and Johnny tying for first and Brian, Daisuke, Jeff, Patrick, Stevie, and Jeremy tying for third? IT COULD HAPPEN.
