Hi! I've been checking out the journals of people who have signed up for The Buffyverse Ficathon that I didn't know because a) I'm nosey and b) I like meeting new people. Just wanted to let you know that I loved this story! Mal and Simon are both great in this. I love River's role, too.
It's a big shame this isn't your pairing, for being someone who reads *a lot* of Mal/Simon this is really great! You make the sex scenes sexy without having to be graphic and the building relationship between the two very real and sweet.
I love how you've written Simon being new to having a proper relationship, not just a fling with someone, Mal's shyness about engaging in the physical, being new to that. They each take the other somewhere they haven't been before and it's good and fun and sometimes a but uncertain, but all worth it in the end.
If you ever write this paring again I'd love to read it. Just out of curiosity which pairing do you like?
I'm really glad you enjoyed this! I love writing for serenity_santa: it was a fun challenge to write this pairing, and to write it in a way that was both true to my own style and the kind of thing that my recipient would go for.
Just out of curiosity which pairing do you like?
I'm much more of a Mal/Jayne writer; my most substantial fics in the fandom are all that pairing. I've tried writing Mal/Simon since this fic, but it just hasn't really clicked.
