I feel like Kate Gosselin, pre-extensions.
I went to a new hair salon over the weekend. And I am never, EVER going back there. Here's what's wrong with it:
1. My hair was cut much shorter than I wanted it - it's practically a bob instead of being shoulder length.
2. I asked for long layers because I have curly hair. I got short layers in the back and NO LAYERS AT ALL in the front. So it's much longer and bulkier in the front than it is in the back. Hence, the Kate Gosselin comment.
3. IT'S UNEVEN. Luckily, my dad cuts his own hair and has a pair of nice barber's scissors, so I could fix my hair myself when I got home. There were small sections that extended a good half inch beyond the tips. And each day since, I've found more uneven spots that I've had to correct, including this afternoon when I got home. On top of that, the shape is all wrong. I'm not a pro by any means, but even I can tell that the shape is atrocious.
4. The stylist did not speak to me the entire time, except to ask how I liked it at the end. She didn't even ask if or how I wanted my hair styled after the cut; she just started blow drying and straightening it. And she curled my hair under with the flat iron, which made me look like I'm 35. I'm 23.
And this is only the short list of things that made Saturday an awful experience.
The worst part is that the reason I got my hair cut is because I'm going to a conference for work and need to look nice. (Also, I'm going to a V-day dance on the 13th and would like to look purty.) So now I have an appointment tomorrow at the place where I got my hair cut over the summer. Same stylist I had then, too. I loved the cut she gave me; I should have just gone there to start. Anyway, I'm hoping she can fix my hair without making it too much shorter. It's already so short that it poofs out like an 80's fro if I wear it curly! And I don't want to have to straighten it for a month while it grows out!!
