The early spring has made me think about Japan a lot. I'm not even sure what's the connection, maybe I'm secretly hoping that the trees on our streets will be miraculously turned into sakura by the exceptionally warm and sunny march. Or maybe it's just that everyone seems to be talking about or actually going over there these days.
Anyway, these thoughts made me want to at least watch some j-tv if I couldn't afford a trip. So, intriqued by the title I downloaded first half of a drama "wagahai ha shufu de aru". The main plot is about Natsume Souseki on a 1000yen bill switching places with a 37year old housewife Midori so that Souseki will be trapped in her body while Midori is most likely trapped on the bill. Souseki appears to be in the point in his life when he's just about to write his first novel "wagahaiha nekodearu" (I'm a cat). And to put things short, although I think the way he's pictet to behave seems kind of ridiculous, I really want to read the book now! Unfortunately I haven't been able to find it in any etext form. I found
this page, which seems to be rather useful but unfortunately "wagahaiha nekodearu" is not included.
I'm almost seriously contemplating getting one of those "student credit cards" while i still can so I could order it somewhere online. But I don't think any credit card and me would be a good mix. I don't have any money as it is, an opportunity to make more debts shouldn't be added to my list of possible temptations. So I think I'll either search more for an ebook version or drop hints in in my emails to Hiro. And read "Bocchan" instead. It's not like I'm lacking in j-books I haven't read yet.
EDIT:
e-text found. It's with furigana and all. I suspect it's kinda Japanese version of Project Gutenberg. This'd be the 5th book I'm reading online/digitally this spring. And I used to think that printed and binded is the only format I'd ever read books in.
