Claire: Will I ever see you again? Mom? Lyle? HRG: I don't know. I just wanted to protect you. Claire: I know. You're my dad. HRG: I tried to be the best dad I could be. Claire: I know.
Flashback: HRG is trying on different glasses, and Claire is telling him that they look like "grandpa" glasses. She asks if she's going to need glasses some day, since both he and Grandpa did. He tells her that she was adopted, which momentarily throws her... she asks about her "real" parents, and he tells her that they ARE her "real" parents... they don't know who her biological parents were, but that didn't matter. "What makes us "real" is how much we love you. And we love you very much. You didn't grow inside your mother... you grew inside our hearts."
Claire hands him another pair of glasses, and he tries them on-- it's the HRG we know and love. He asks her how he looks, and she replies "Like my dad."
Back to present day: HRG stops the car. They're on the bridge (the same one where he shot Claude in the past) and the Haitian is there waiting. They get out of the car and HRG says "This is goodbye". The Haitian pulls out a gun... Claire tries to tell her dad "You don't have to do this", but he and the Haitian insist that this is the only way, that there can't be any suspision that falls back on her dad. HRG makes Claire turn around and cover her ears, and the the Haitian shoots HRG in the abdomen. HRG then says "Go deep. Take anything that would lead them to her."
Claire throws her arms around him and tells himn she loves him. "I love you too, Claire-bear."
The Haitian reaches for him, and we fade to blask.
And now I need to go blow my nose again. *sniffle*
