So I'm home from San Francisco and dealing with all the little things that didn't get done in our absence, and now I finally have a chance to sit down and see what I've missed on LJ/DW.
No major flooding here last night. New York got hit by much heavier rains that we in Vermont did. My car was at an auto shop that got flooded out during Hurricane Irene, so I was kind of worried. Probably would have been fine there even if the rains had been worse, but we're all a bit gun-shy since Irene. The car is ten years old, but I'm planning to get at least a couple more years out of it because I'd rather spend the money on traveling and books and wine than on a new car that's going to be beaten up by washboarded dirt roads and road salt and mud season. Wouldn't mind better gas mileage next time, but there's only so good it's going to get in an AWD vehicle.

Quote of the day:
Everyone always praises Han’s “I know" in ESB for being so cool or ~badass or whatever, but like… did those people actually watch ESB?
Because it’s PRETTY FUCKING CLEAR that the feelings in that relationship are WAY MORE INTENSE on Han’s side at the start. Oh there’s an attraction on Leia’s part, but Han’s pretty clearly in love with her from the get-go.
Like Leia bickers because she’s wildly attracted to him and wishes she wasn’t. Han bickers because he’s head over heels in love with her and thinks he doesn’t stand a chance because he just knows she’s going to choose Luke. (This entry was originally posted at
