The fair!

Aug 30, 2012 21:21

H took the day off today so we could go to the Champlain Valley [Vermont] Fair.

Saw giant pumpkins, really long gourds, and other impressive vegetables, then agility dogs, sheep, rabbits, poultry (baby ducks! baby emu!), oxen, dairy cows, show horses, and draft horses.

Ate gyros, apple cider slush, maple creemee (soft serve ice cream to non-Vermonters), and - after I told H that I didn't have that fair-indigestion feeling yet - onion rings. The place we bought the onion rings also offered something called "Pork Boners." We did not order that. I'm not certain I even want to know what those are.

The bag of pure-maple-sugar cotton candy (highlight of the fair, as anyone who's ever eaten it will agree) remains unopened until we regain our appetites, which may not happen until sometime next week.
