Am alive and watching The Pacific.
I haven't posted in almost two weeks - although I have been keeping up with the flist and occasionally even commenting - due to an insanely tight deadline. Everything's on its way to the editor, so my life is my own again. H and I cooked a lobster dinner to celebrate both that and his car being on its way here from Germany. (We need to come up with a name for it.)
So, The Pacific. I don't think I'll love it quite the way I love Band of Brothers, but so far, so good. I've already read one of the books on which The Pacific was based, With the Old Breed: At Peleliu and Okinawa by Eugene Sledge, which has been on my TBR shelf mountain for years. This was a good excuse to pick it up and finally read it. Wish I hadn't waited so long, because it truly lived up to its reputation of being one of the best war memoirs of all time. Highly recommended.
Now to catch up on Spartacus!
