• ZOMBIES: Read the zombie stormtrooper book yesterday in about an hour and a half. So, yeah, it could have been longer. Really should have been, at hardcover prices. Also, there was a tragic lack of lightsabers. I'm not sure I can get over that in a Star Wars book. The cover really is the best part anyway. My advice is to borrow Death Troopers from the library or wait for the paperback. In better zombie news, Zombieland, which we saw tonight, was everything I want in a zombie movie. NUT UP OR SHUT UP.
• Last winter for H's ten-year-old Volvo. We're ordering a diesel Audi and doing European delivery. So I'm finally going to Germany in a few months when the car is actually built. Now if we can just get through those few months without any more $2,000 repair bills for the Volvo.
• Time to brush up on the German. I'm pretty sure I can get by on reading, but speaking terrifies me. I'm shy enough in English.
• All the language/travel stress will be worth it to finally see the U-995 - the only surviving Type VII U-boat. (When you think Battle of the Atlantic, you're mostly thinking of the Type VII boats.) Eeeeeee! I keep a list of museum warships and cross off each one I visit. As far as submarines go, I've been on a Type IX (U-505) and a couple of American fleet boats (USS Bowfin and USS Croaker - and the USS Blueback too, but that's a post-WWII boat), but it's necessary to go across the pond for the Type VII. At last it shall be mine!
