First appointment with my new dermatologist today. She told me I have beautiful skin, which has been making me happy all day. I'm kind of obsessed with my skin, but I figure I deserve to be after suffering from acne from ages eleven to twenty-seven. A six-month course of Accutane finally got rid of it. That and my fanatical devotion to sun protection are paying off like crazy now that I'm in my thirties. (Don't tan, ladies! You will be sorry later if you do. Embrace your natural skin tone, whatever it is.) Walked out with a prescription for metronidazole to nip my incipient rosacea in the bud. This will be my third prescription skin product, since I already use Renova and Vaniqa. Unlike the other two, though, my insurance will pay for the metronidazole. You really have to treat rosacea or it will get progressively worse.

Lots of driving in torrential downpours today. That's always fun, if your idea of fun is not being able to see anything while fools around you drive far too fast for road conditions. Bonus points if said fools don't have their headlights on.

Well-Preserved: Recipes and Techniques for Putting up Small Batches of Seasonal Foods by Eugenia Bone (I can't wait to make the Cherries in Wine. And the Apricot Amaretto Jam.
