So today we discovered ice damage to a corner of the roof of one section of our house. (Note to self: Start asking around about a good metal-roofing contractor.) Plus we have decided that it's probably time to euthanize the old dog. Surprisingly, I am doing pretty well. The mental/physical crash-and-burn of the last couple of weeks is over.
The roof thing is only money. If we end up needing a whole new roof, well, then we'll get a new roof. I'm hoping it won't come to that, considering that we had to excavate our septic system last fall and we need to renovate the nasty old bathroom that we recently had to half-demolish to extract one of the cats from the ceiling. Ain't home ownership grand? Cats, too.
The dog cannot be fixed. She's had a good five years with us, but she's almost seventeen and her kidneys are failing and she's incontinent and can barely walk. I've been spoiling her rotten while I have the chance. Now I must psych myself into calling the vet.
I just need a bottle glass of red wine and a comfort movie. Usually that means A Knight's Tale, but right now that would have the opposite effect. Maybe Ladyhawke instead. Or The Mummy. Or maybe the 1995 P&P or one of the other non-awful Austen adaptations. Hmm.
ETA: On
ancarett's suggestion, I've put on the 1995 Persuasion. *happy sigh*
ETA2: And now I'm watching The Mummy because some of the flist have been talking about it lately and I haven't seen it in ages. Plus I adore Rachel Weisz.
