{anti-OTP: Morvydd/Zara}

Jun 04, 2007 01:42

The tall windows of Morvydd's room are open, though it's raining outside quietly and steadily, and the breeze that blows in is almost chilly. There's a small fire burning, and the little table laid out for tea. Morvydd herself is at her worktable, sifting some fragrant stuff while she waits for Zara to come and fit her for another gown.

And, in a moment, Zara comes. She's dressed in green, though she herself could not tell you why, and has her basket with her, swatches of cloth to show and her measuring things. She knocks. She doesn't knock for everyone.

"Come in," pleasantly.

Which she does, then, holding her basket close. "'Lo."

Morvydd dusts the herbs from her hands, smiling warmly. "Good day."

She almost smiles back, and then bites it back. "I come like y'asked."

"So I see, and I thank you." She crosses to shut the door behind Zara. "I had thought the weather would be better."

"Doesn't much matter, does it?" looking around behind her. "Y're inside."

"Ay. And I have not walked a mile." A rueful smile. "There is tea brewing, if you would care--"

She shrugs, and then nods. "All right. Is it like before?"

"No," Morvydd says carelessly, which is true; the specific recipe is different. "It is good, though -- or it will be, if I have not left it too long --"

Another nod, and she crosses over to the fire. Her hands are cold and a little white.

"How do you?" as she checks the teapot and begins to pour.

"Fine. Not doing much."

"Boredom sets in so easily," Morvydd agrees. "In this place, where needs are so few. Will you sit down?"

"I know. --All right." She comes away from the fire and sits, looking around at the room.

The walls are not stone, no matter how much it feels like they should be: they're panelled, with red paper above, and the floor is carpeted except for a brick-laid space in front of the fireplace. Morvydd hands her a teacup, and settles into the chair opposite.
