Borrowed from The Wastrel Show:

One Week's Worth of Food from Around the World

It's a must-see link. The pictures and dollar amounts are interesting and eye-opening. There are vast economic and cultural differences. Depending on the family, the dining table may be dominated by fruits and vegetables, meat, bread, processed foods, or takeout. Some have plenty to eat, while others make do with very little.

From Friday5.org:

1. What is your keyring like?
Six rings linked together with way too many keys on them.

2. What is your purse/bag/briefcase like?
I double-bag my stuff in plastic shopping bags, part of a plastic bag reuse plan.

3. What is your wallet like?
A ragged trifold. It was a free item from a web store back in the dot-com days, so it's about a decade old.

4. What is your mousepad like?
Optical mice don't need mousepads but I still do have a Phoenix Coyotes mousepad by the desktop computer.

5. What are the curtains in your bedroom like?
No curtains. I have blinds and shades.

From thefridayfive:

1. What song would you sing to your newborn child? (OR if you already had a child, which song did you sing to him/her?)
I wouldn't.

2. How do you think animals think? (i.e. in animal language, human language, etc.)
http://www.guardian.co.uk/uk/2002/dec/18/hunting.animalwelfare

I'm sure at some level they do, but they're probably not too concerned about monetary inflation.

3. As a child, did you have a dream to make a difference in the world? Can you describe your dream?
No, I would sooner have left the world alone. There are already too many meddlers.

4. Do you believe in God/a Higher Being?
No.

5. Do you believe in aliens?
Sure! In fact, we have tax forms for them: Form 1040NR. Wait... what kind of aliens did you mean?

From the altfriday5:

1. Do you often have songs stuck in your head? Does it bother you? What sort of songs get stuck for you?
Sometimes but they don't get stuck for very long because I forget the words. It's disturbing.

2. Do you converse with yourself in your head? How distinct are the pieces (from "I'm alone in there" to "there are several distinct people who inhabit our body")?
Yes. It's disturbing.

3. How easy it is for you to do math in your head?
It used to be a lot easier, but I'm still better than the cashier at the Parkway rest stop. It's disturbing.

4. How easy is it for you to visualize things in your head?
I actually don't do that very much. I just start doing whatever I've set out to do with no image in my head and things happen. It's disturbing.

5. Anything else we should know about that's going on in your head?
Yes. How do I stop remembering locations of Wawa stores so that I can reclaim the brain space for more worthwhile uses? It's disturbing.

From manonica:

1. What do you think is your purpose in life?
I can't say I've given it much thought.

2. What is your greatest gift to the world?
This photo of Ruby Minis. I can rest now. My life's work is done. :)

3. Is charity important to you? If so, how do you give back?
By being a nut in an animal suit at some of their events.

4. Is life worth all the problems in the world?
As the suicide hotline signs on the Tappan Zee Bridge say, "Life is worth living."

5. What gets you through the day?
The progression of time.
