Glen Rock

Woke up quite a bit earlier than usual this morning. I figured it would be a waste just going back to sleep when there's a geocache less than 10 miles away, so I went to Glen Rock for the Why Do They Call It Glen Rock? geocache. So why do they call the town Glen Rock? Because of this rock. It was a two-part geocache. The first part involved gathering information from the plaques and signs at the large rock. The second part was a hike in a nearby park to which I'd been before. However, I forgot where the trailhead was so I had to drive around a bit to find it. The rest was easy.

In the afternoon, I went to Wayne for the High Mountain Preserve red trailhead geocache. By this time, it had started snowing a little but not to the point where anything was sticking. The red trailhead is at the William Paterson University campus so that's where I drove in and parked. That too was a quick cache. Not so quick was the journey back. I got caught in a traffic delay caused by a collision between a car and a donut truck. That's not how America runs on Dunkin'!

By the evening, enough snow had fallen to cover the ground. Had to scrape a bit of ice off the windshield. Anyway, I'm now on leave until the end of the year so I'll try to get out to more local events, even some weekday ones.
