Rainbows in Las Vegas

"The Las Vegas Strangler" is all about rainbow suspenders.

Of course, there's Starsky's famous pair of very wide, very flashy suspenders, which originally seem to have come from the awesome second-hand store where they got their stylish 1940's ganster suits, but which he later wears with his normal clothes (and with a belt, like Captain Jack Harkness - according to John Barrowman, this was a Midwestern trend in the mid-20th century referring (I guess) to the original Jack's American farm boy background, but many fans think it just means the man really struggles to keep his pants on):

But there are also lovely rainbow colored belt loops, imitating button-end suspenders, on Hutch's jeans:

It's a pity the episode was filmed some two years before the rainbow flag came to signify LGBT pride. Well, us fans can still have a field day with these details.

(Hutch goes on to wear these jeans in other episodes. The most aesthetically pleasing occasion must be in the opening scene of "The Specialist" when he's wearing nothing else...)
