Some Thoughts...ninquarkJune 12 2005, 05:16:24 UTC
I like to argue and debate. :) Tell me to shut up if I'm bothering you and I will indeed shut up.
Evil exists; it is intelligence in the service of entropy. When the side of a mountain slides down to kill a village, this is not evil, for evils requires intent.
If Evil is "intelligence in the services of entropy" that implies something interesting about entropy. For if evil is intelligence in service to this entropoy, what does that say about entropy, if we were to hypothetically personify the concept?
You say that should a sentient being cause evil, Justice is required so that civilization can exist. I move to say, "Not so! Civilization can exist without Justice and has done so and thrived throughout human history!" Societies lacking in Justice do exist today. Perhaps instead you are trying to say something else? That society as it should exist has a requisite Justice involved?
There is no greater good than Justice. Quite a statement. :) Why do you think this? What makes Justice a greater good than the virtues of Peace, Prosperity, Unity, Freedom? Many people who desire Freedom speak out against Justice, for Justice and the laws used to enforce it restrict possibilities. Absolute Justice and Absolute Freedom are simply not compatible, for example. Should other goods be sacrificed for the good that is embodied by Justice?

Just hoping for discussion, that's all. :)
