The Golf got torched last night

Dec 02, 2008 22:27

I had fallen asleep watching telly last night and woke up as David sat next to me to play on the Xbox, and as it was quiet we could hear a strange popping noise but did't think anything of it. However, the next noise was a car horn stuck on and as the Golf has been broken in to twice David went to see if it was our car.

As it was 12.46am I was trying to wake up enough to check as well when he yellled 'call the fire brigade'. I wondered what he meant so went outside and the bonnet was alight with 2 foot flames in front of the windscreen.

I shot back in and grabbed the phone and rang them but by the time they got here the Golf was completely gutted as it had half a tank of petrol in it.

Luckily I was parked by the wall which runs across the back gardens of our neighbour's houses as the night before I was oustide the back door so that would have gone up as well.

The buggy, Rhiannon's toys and my leather trench coat were in the boot as I normally go to Mum and Dad's on a Monday so they can watch Rhiannon while I go to Pilates but Mum has a bug so I came home instead and hadn't taken them out of the car. Also as the car has a tape player not a CD player in it a load of my old tapes were in the glove box and one of them was autographed which of course is irreplacable.

I've lost the car seat too so even if I can get another car to use it will need replacing in order to take Rhiannon anywhere.

I thought the car being broken in to was bad enough but at least I stlll had the car afterwards. It's so inconvenient being without a car as I use it on a daily basis. I know Swansea has a good bus service and I have borrowed a buggy from a friend so at least I don't have to carry Rhiannon everywhere as she's getting heavy to carry any distance. Getting her to and from nursery is going to be fun though as it's a good 20 minute walk from work and I don't think there's a bus I can catch up there.

I hope karma catches up with the git who did this and they get a large dose of something nasty as payback. This is a lovely house but we've had enough of being victims of crime so plan to look for somewhere else to live.

We have loads of friends who live in Mount Pleasant who have never had any problems but we must be the wrong side of the hill. The problem is Fullers Row is a criminals dream as it's not overlooked and there is no CCTV so they can do what they like and not be disturbed. I'd park at the front of the house but it's a nightmare manouvering on the hill and with the steps I can't get right outside the house.

I reported it to KGM this morning but God knows how long it will take to get sorted as they still haven't settled the claim from June when I was bumped in to.

I rang Mum and Dad to let them know too and they were a mixture of horrified and furious A Policeman came today to see where it happened and talk to the neighbours but unfortunately I doubt they will track down the cretin who did it.
