Snow = Swansea gridlocked
Gah what is it with the UK and snow? A weeny little flurry and bedlam ensues! I start work at 7am on fridays and when I left it was pouring with rain so I drove down and there was no sign of snow and the weather forecast looked like it would miss this area. However, by 10am ish it started snowing quite heavily although wasn't settling as the ground was so wet. Then, it did start settling but immediately turned to slush which is when the mayhem started!
Pedestrians were falling over and cars were being abandoned at the side of the road as people couldn't get up the hills and the buses and taxis all stopped. Customers who did manage to get to Mumbles from Swansea said it took nearly 2 hours and the roads were gridlocked, and the gritting lorries were stuck in the traffic too. It would have helped if they had gone out last night but oooohhhhh no that would be FAR TOO LOGICAL!
I don't know if my boss is planning on staying open this afternoon as the banks have all shut and other shops were closing when I finished so people can attempt to get home.
The crazy thing is there's only about an inch of snow if that and it's only settled properly on the grass and cars so at least there's a bit for the kids to play in who of course have all been sent home from school!
I plan to hibernate inside as I don't have anything to do this afternoon where it's lovely and toasty as Mum has the log burning fire lit :)
