[ There's a clatter and a somewhat far off HEY! right as the PCD beings recording. Just sound and voice for now - running footsteps away from the device and someone picking it up out of the dirt. ]
Hmm. Some sort of communicating device. Currently transmitting - hello, listeners in, don't interrupt please, thank you - voice capability. Also text, translation, video recording. Basic encryption of some sort, that will need modifying if it's to be of any use at all...
[ The voice is young, mid-twenties or so, and female. Curious, annoyed. Not afraid, not yet. More sounds of movements, like the PCD is being turned over and examined again, pressed against fabric and shifted. ]
So something must have happened, since I was in LA, and now I'm here, with some child practically running me over and forcing this item into my hands - mind you, one of them is very clearly non-functional and even if it were a temporary case - which it ISN'T, thank you, please take note - it was really rather rude.
Current hypothesis runs somewhere along the lines that it didn't work, or it worked too well, or we were caught before I could finish working [ A sigh. ] Which would make this the Attic, except there's not nearly enough adrenaline response for it to be functioning properly from what I understand.
[ A click and now video. The young woman looks annoyed, and maybe a little worried, but still unafraid. You could call her pretty - she definitely isn't unattractive - but she'd call you insane or ignore you. The PCD, as opposed to being held at eye level, is in her lap and she's tilting her head at the screen and holding it with one hand. ]
So. Listeners in, and now observers of this predicament, I would like to know the state of things. How you got here, how I got here, and what failed attempts have been made to leave. I'm certain they are failed, given the nature of the Attic. I'd also like to know how many former employees are here, as opposed to how many former actives, and those who simply got in the way for lack of a better phrase.
[ She frowns, now, and there's a slight tightening around her eyes. Mostly anger, possibly a little fear, but she's stomping it down rather neatly. ]
While I'm sure I will get plenty of responses along the lines of what and who are you, I'd also appreciate it if any other programmers here wouldn't mind speaking up.
