Adventures in Teaching

I wanted my non-FBers to see what I am putting up with today. My status updates from a half-class of quizzes:

Dear Students: While I cannot be sure which of you originally provided answers, and therefore cannot know if only one of you should be penalized, the similarity of your answers to those of the classmate in your immediate proximity leads me to the inevitable conclusion that there was collaboration on today's quiz.

Dear Student: Had you read ANY of the book, you would know that Andre Kristov's name is Henri-Christophe. You would also know other answers.

Dear Student: Why, on a novel about Haiti, is one of your quiz responses "The Archbishop's Gorilla" in Spanish?

Dear Student: "A strange religion, perhaps voodoo, that involves chanting in Latin" is called Catholicism.

Last week, a student referred to Borges' "Library of Babel" as "Library Bagel."

I have to keep telling myself today that I love what I do. This is only the tip of today's iceberg of "Is the ASPCA hiring?"
