You know, those plain chocolate bars that are used to make s'mores. You know the ones, right?! I can find them nowhere!
My brother signed himself up to bring s'mores (i.e. graham crackers, marshmallows, and chocolate) to a camping trip. Being an idiot thirteen-year-old boy, he neglected to tell anyone this until last night, despite the fact that he's known for over a week. So my mom and I got to spend over an hour collecting his supplies for him this morning (I had to go along at my brother's insistence, since my mother doesn't seem to understand how/what makes a smore, despite it being explained to her repeatedly).
As any smore connoisseur knows, smores are to be made with Hershey's chocolate bars. It is The Way. But we couldn't find a single goddamn plain chocolate Hershey's bar anywhere! They have them with almonds and cookies and cream, but no normal ones.
We asked in the supermarket, and the idiot girl said to make them with an Aero bar. An Aero bar, I say! Any Americans reading this won't have the slightest idea what an Aero bar is -- take my word for it when I tell you that it's not suitable for s'more consumption.
Anyway, we had to settle for Jersey Milk bars eventually after trying two supermarkets and three convenience stores. I still can't believe we couldn't find them. Hershey's bars are the most ubiquitous form of chocolate in the universe (I actually said this as we were leaving one of the convenience stores, which led to a discussion in which my mother said I read too much because I know what "ubiquitous" means and she doesn't).
So are Hershey's bars extinct, or is it just another Canada Sucks Donkey Balls issue?
