I'm going to directly quote Kieth Olbermaan criticizing Sarah Palin.
"Here's the problem, unless you can actually read. Section 1233 does say "such consultation shall include the following" listing all the end of life stuff, but what consultation shall include the following? Turns out section 1233 is just amending a section 1831 of the social security act which is just a list of definitions. So Ms. Palin, when it says "such consultation shall include the following" it does not mean doctors have to include the following in their consultations. It means the definition of reimbursed advanced care consultation includes any of the following. Got it?"
Um...
"Oh and the subsection HHH in your footnote? It does not exist. See the quote marks?"
Here's what was shown on screen:
425
"(FF) advance care planning consultation (as
defined in subsection (hhh)(1);"; and
(B) b adding at the end the following new
subsection:
"Advance Care Planning Consultation
"(hhh)(1) Subject to paragraphs (3) and (4), the
term "advance care planning consultation" means a con-
"The bill is quoting a hypothetical subsection HHH that it will add to the existing social security law."
Maybe this is an energy bill.
Listen:
Congress is dumb. I tried to read the HR 3200 for about thirty seconds before coming to that conclusion. America still doesn't know what the hell this bill is about, and the people who wrote the damn thing can't seem to explain it. From what I can gather, it doesn't seem to do much, but it might set up a foundation to do more later if the Democrats keep control (which they won't) and keep pushing (which they won't). So for the moment, this is a lot of very little. So why is it such a big deal?
My guess is because it's the biggest deal at the moment. It sets up the right to say that the left is trying to destroy America, and the left to say that the right is trying to block an historic event. The sick part about it is that I doubt that any of these talking heads believe a word of what they're saying. This is just a rhetorical pissing contest at this point.
This would have been a much better month for Michael Jackson to have died.
