on friday jay, nancy and i, very spur-of-the-moment-like, decided to pick up and drive to montreal.
we'd been sitting, nursing drinks at gatsby's bar/eatery when the idea began to take shape.
setting out at eleven thirty or so, the first hours of the drive were spent singing, riddling and smoking cigarettes. saturday turned out to be hotter than the hinges of hell and (as jay cannot drive a stick shift) poor nancy was, by mid-morning, near delirious with heat and want for sleep. we stopped a number of times and once in a little town name of st. eulalie. jason bought genuine quebecois poutine and seemed impervious to the weather while nancy and i simply melted.
we arrived in montreal 4:30pm local time, just as the sky opened and let loose with more water than i've seen in a good while. within seconds we three were soaked to the skivvies and i was as good as blinded, with my mascara making a run for it.
and the thunder/lightning! excellent!
we mucked about the city until two in the morning, at which time we retired to nancy's saturn.
the drive out of and away from la belle province was cool and grey and punctuated by dead raccoons.
i suggest you all drop everything and drive someplace far away.
travel,
pleasant memories,
jay,
montreal,
friends
