Joyce is on board! She's actually talking about manipulating her flight schedule in Louisville to do the interview. Stick her on the list with Sa Chen and Roberto Plano who think this thing is cool.
It seems really stupid to say it now, but the more I learned about the making of the documentary, in particular, the more I reformed my view of Joyce. Sure, there was always a camera in tow, but apparently that was very often the documentary crew, and she really had no choice over what they did.
I don't enjoy her playing as much as some of the others, but what she does is good, and the jury and audience sure as hell liked it. And I will say that her chamber music was extraordinary -- look back, I said it at the time.
I've got to get really, really organized now. I also think I can point out to the lady at the Cliburn Foundation that once I have two of the three medalists, three of the six finalists, and possibly more (I'm just waiting on the others), it would be insane for the Foundation not to put some pressure on Alexander Kobrin to accommodate this, even if he isn't otherwise cool with it.
I may not use my Alexander Kobrin icons as much until I get a favorable result from him. I still love his playing, but some of the glitter has worn off.
