Wow! It's been such a long time! I've been so busy latly and I have so much stuff to tlak about, but I think I won't bore everyone with everything that has been happening...I'll do that later! :) So I'm just going to tell everyone about my amazing group workcamp trip to New York!
The beginning of my trip was horrible! I was going on this trip expecting to learn to pray outloud and lead others in devotions. I was sure that I was going to have an amazing week and everything was going to go perfect. My crew was going to get all our work done no problem and I was going to love my crew. I met my crew Sunday night and we hit it off right away. I got the job as devotional leader--which made me really excited!
Then we went to the work site on Monday and it was horrible!!! The worksite was aweful!!! It was by far the worse house I had ever worked on! It looked like total crap. THen we started working and I soon found out that Kyle (one of the guys in my crew) did absolutly no work. And devotions went horrible! No one would listen to me and I had to try so hard to get anyone to listen for any actual amount of time.
Tuesday was not much better. Kyle got two other people in my crew to join his laziness (so 3 out of the 6 did nothing). Devotions was aweful again. After devotions I had a fight with Kyle up on the roof and the rest of the day was horrible. As soon as I got back to the school (where we slept for the week) I layed down on my bed and called Jeff and cried. He cheered me up quickly by reminding me to keep my faith and that God put me with my crew for a reason. Then he sang "You are my Sunshine" :) and made me feel much better! Tuesday and Wednesday I prayed big time and things go so much better starting on THursday.
My entire crew really started working hard and devotions started going great! The youth group devotions we had every night before bed started going AWESOME too!!! Alica MacIntire started crying during a prayer one night about how she wasn't feeling God's precence during the week. I had to agree with her...I didn't feel his prescense either. After that prayer we had two people come to Christ. It was INCREDIBLE! Everything was GREAT!
Friday Kyle was crying up on the roof of our house and told me to leave him alone. So I went up, sat right next to him, and before I knew it he broke down and told me everything about his entire life. He was telling me about how he had keplt Christ out of his life because of his dad dying in a car accident when he was ten years old. He told me EVERYTHING! THat was by far the best devotions we had after lunch that day! We finished out job and had enough time to buy ice cream before the bus came to pick us up.
I didn't do as well as I wanted to in explaining this story...but I'm so tired! It was just incredible to see how Christ came though in the week and how he tested me. I am now thinking I will go to workcamp again next year in West Virgina because I love being able to see how God touches so many lives in one location in one week. Maybe I'll explain more later. Goodnight all.
