So, it was like, I dunno, 1978.

Year I got my X-Wing fighter toy for Xmas (there were not Star Wars toys to speak of in 1977, they were caught off guard by the movies success.) My mom had just moved me out to California, and we lived 3 blocks from the beach.

Living that close to the beach, almost everyone was nice, friendly and polite.

So being a kid, and having a sworn duty from birth to meet every other kid who lived within, oh, a three-four block radius of ones domicile, (not to mention a mile or two of local beach )I knew lots of people.

Two of these were some of the nicest cats I'd ever met. Brother and Sister, a year apart. They were halflings, 1/2 WASP and one half Aztec. The two coolest kids on the whole block. Just stone cold chillin, no stress. If it wasent for the obvious mix of white and indian features, you would have sworn they were 'Aryan' from the pale skin and blonde hair. ( 'Aryan' in the racist bullshit sense, not the etymological one.)

And their parents were damn nice too. The Mother would always make us tortillas and butter. Never forgot that, and its been one of my favorites since. Only now I use Trader Joes Homemade Whole Wheat Tortillas made with Organic Fair-Trade Crack.

Anyway, so I am buying Star Wars shit.

I again have an X-Wing from 1978. A Millenium Falcon (not this one: http://www.cynical-c.com/archives/002441.html) from 2005 (the sounds and the blue leds in the engines? damn.) And a load of Hoth type shit from Empire Strikes Back, and more random shit on the way. You get the picture.

So, I am deep in my second childhood.

I have to admit, yes, second. I saw this massively fake thing some people thought of as adulthood, was rooted more in bullshit-politics-church crap, and had no real connection to being a responsible human being. And that some people who seemed a bit childish were smart.. and low stress type people.(See http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Steve_Wozniak for one the Uber examples.)

So, what did I do? I spent a very short time in adulthood. Went right back to being a child.

Pardon me, I'm going to go have some tortillas and butter now, and maybe go find some local second-childhood type kids to play with.

;)
