Still trying to readjust to Irish climate after holidays - I don't remember it being this cold when I left :(
Obviously one of the most unforgettable aspects was obviously the trip to Auschwitz and as you can imagine the most harrowing.I'm not going to go into detail because I'm sure you all have some idea of what it's like but still it really needs to be seen to be believed. It's not something you would ever do again and yet it's something you have to do.
But one thing REALLY annoyed me about some of the other tourists there.
There are signs everywhere saying not to take photos inside the buildings (frankly I think there should be signs not to take photos anywhere).
There are tons of human hair, people's glasses, shoes, suitcases, children's toys, photographs. Places where people were executed in the most evil of manners. Places where children were killed merely for being too young to work. Places where people were starved to death, gassed, shot. The whole experience is harrowing.
And then some fuckwits have to come along with their top of the range cameras taking pictures where they shouldn't be - taking them in gas chambers, starvation rooms, standing up rooms, places of execution. And I can't help thinking why? Who the fuck are you going to show them to? "Ooh look here's one of Mandy in a gas chamber" what the fuck?
It was a profound experience and somewhere to take pictures, especially where hundreds of thousands of people died.
