Just a small sketch dump. Still practicing my anatomy.
Title: Body Sketches 1
Author: MorriganFearn
Rating: R-16 (involving the bare male back)
Characters: Canada, America
Genre: body studies
Warnings: Most of a male back being bared to the viewer
Comments: Just some quick body studies of America and Canada for an upcoming project. I hate the male back. So difficult to draw. But with practice, I will learn to get better!
Poor Canada. He didn't realize that the artist needed to study what his back looked like, and so drew him and his bro nekkid. So awkward. But America takes it in stride. He is a little surprised that Canada got a tattoo, but these things happen.
I hope that the poses of two men with similar body types (they have to be, if America and Canada are always getting mixed up) manage to convey the different personalities.
Personal notes on things that I need to do better: Canada's right hand would not be this visible from that angle, and Canada's left hand would be much more visible. Oh hands, my eternal downfall.
Title: Body Sketches 2
Author: MorriganFearn
Rating: R-16 (involving the bare male back)
Characters: Netherlands
Genre: body studies
Warnings: Most of a male back being bared to the viewer
Comments: Another quick attempt at the male back. This time with Netherlands. I need better photo refs, especially as I'm gaining a weird reputation in my dorm when asking for models.
Oh Netherlands, that's not France taking pictures. Sister Hungary is an inspiration to us all.
As for why he would think that it was France, the Netherlands has be stuck in the position of balancing between England, France and Germany for centuries. Given the fact that at least one is at war with the other two on a near constant basis, the Netherlands is used to having the various countries mess with it, and has had to manipulate them diplomatically in order to remain independent. Why France and not England or Germany for this sketch? Well, England is a *secret* pervert, and Germany would be so embarrassed that he'd run away as fast as possible. Hence, France would probably be the only one to audibly stick around. The Netherlands knows how to be logical.
And as a fan, I believe that France is the only one that the Netherlands would want to stick around
Personal notes: Look, Ma! No hands! Musculature does not look like oddly regular scaring
Title: Romano in America's Jacket Sketches
Author: MorriganFearn
Rating: PG-13 (because Romano is speaking, and Romano has his profanity on)
Characters: S. Italy, America
Genre: sketch character study, gift art draft
Warnings: Romano using the b-word
Comments: I feel as though I should lay out a disclaimer. I am a USUK fan. The fact that this is bolded should tell people that I feel strongly about that pairing. I am a Spamano fan. However, I like Romerica, too, (I'm fairly open minded about all pairings not involving Russia or Belarus). For a couple of reasons, but it mostly boils down to the fact that I'm pretty certain, given the Italian grandmothers I know, Romano is the only one who can criticize America and hope to get it to stick. Canada might have passive-agressive-fu, and Arthur can critique, but Romano could actually get America to change his irritating habits. But I'm also a great believer in accepting a partner as they are, which is one reason why I can't see Romerica lasting. But it's cute and fun while it's going on (or less cute and fun, if you saw my version of the 1920s, but you know me, I'm prone to DARK), and Romano can be relied upon as that go to guy for advice when America has done something stupid. He won't help the US out of trouble, but his level headed pessimism might have a useful answer or two hiding in there, somewhere.
Now, revel in the hilarity of S. Italy in America's bomber jacket. I felt that I'd focused on too many mesomorphs recently, and I've wanted to make a gift for
Coffeefate and the amazing "
Educating America" fic for some time now. I'll prolly be working on that drawing after I finish Chapter Seven.
Now, Clark Kent or Alfred Jones? Sometimes I get them confused, lol. Yeah, Alfred's not well done in this, but it was supposed to give me an idea of how to draw Romano, so I'm keeping it that way. Also, America's jacket should be too big for Romano, and I made it too small. And the hands hurt my eyes, precious. However, this was an exercise in character study, rather than anatomy, so I win!
