So let me tell you about my drive into work this morning. For the last few months or so I've known I had an exhaust leak. I could hear the raspy note that told me there was a hole either in the muffler or the exhaust pipe. But I didn't really pay attention to it since it wasn't very annoying or that loud. Well it started getting loud, but I kept getting used to it. Well just before I came home from Michigan I decide to look under the car and what do I see but a giant tennis ball sized hole in the exhaust pipe right where it turns and goes into the muffler. So I laugh to myself and think "Oh so there's where my hole is, guess I need to replace it." So I bought a brand new exhaust system, pipe, muffler, tips, everything from Edelbrock. Unfortunately I need to do so modification to make it fit, so I still haven't gotten around to replacing it yet. Anyway the muffler's been bouncing around getting weaker all this time, and I can notice the pipes sticking out from under my bumper starting to sag. And they've been getting worse the more I drive the car. So this morning I walk out to start the car in the morning and notice they're really starting to sag, but I don't really think too much of it. So on the way to work I hit the construction zone where all the asphalt has been stripped making for a nice rough ride, and I think, "Boy I should really think about taking off the muffler and tailpipes because one of these days it's just gonna break loose and fall of." So I continue my drive, exit the highway, and start driving down this two lane country road that I take and suddenly above the music I think I hear a slight clank and a faint scraping noise. So I mute the radio and sure enough I can hear the metallic grinding of exhaust on pavement. So I've now got a homeless muffler sitting in my trunk and an exhaust note that had absolutely no change in it once the muffler fell off. Gotta love raw exhaust.
