I signed up for a free 6 week course on music composition from the University of Singapore. And then a free course on songwriting from Berkelee. I am reading a book that's basically a survey of different compositional approaches. I am working through some rudimentary piano exercises, scales--fundemental things, both classical and jazz.
I realize that my real life goal is to write concert music. I want to write symphonies, concerti, sting quartets, maybe even an opera. I want to write musicals and I know that would be fulfilling and fun. But I want tio be remembered as a "serious" composer. I want to do what moves me most.
So, while I do what I can to make more money, I am also doing everything I can to be better at what I do.
I am tired most of the time and my age is creeping up on me (you should see the gray), but I don't care. I have shit to do.
