my summer writing instructor once told us that lists were not good ways to communicate. they convey no information and they essentially have no point. they were the bane of his existence as one of the literarily cultured.
to this information i replied, thought not aloud, that he should perhaps refrain from ever looking at the palm of my left hand at the end of the day.
NEVER HAVE I EVER:
gotten a solo; scored a goal; made a significant contribution to someone else's life; accepted my brother; found a role model; written something that i was %100 percent proud of; reveled in my first kiss; forgotten my best kiss; fully gotten over he-who-must-not-be-named; criticized harshly; criticized honestly; made a mistake i could learn from; forgotten summer '04; made a new friend; been embarrassed by something that i didn't cause; forgotten myself; saved the world; followed through; let go; realized reality; eaten food without chewing the last bite on the right side of my mouth; been fully with it; succeeded; fit in; excluded myself; read every book in my library; fallen out of love; hated spiders; hated school; hated earthworms; loved pink; allowed myself to get in too deep; hidden in the shallow water; touched a dolphin; touched a star; hugged a panda bear; made an honest mistake; gone a day without sarcasm; accepted the fact that one day i must die.
