not much time to blog atm, just putting this down for posterity.
you know who i think of when i look at hibari from KHR?
i chose this picture because it lets me assign my own slash levels :D

srsly.
unbeatable? ultraviolent? leader of the top dogs in school? will kill his own mates if they piss him off? bored, pretty eyes and wispy hair?
the physical resemblance may be hard to peg, but imho hibari's personality draws out the parallels. he's a battle royale kid, a survivor of survivors... but at the same time, he consciously seeks/needs social order.
may as well put in my personal blabla about hibari here. the cloud guardian goes his own way, perhaps because he never found a niche anywhere. he takes on certain mantles (i.e. protector of his beloved school, vongola guardian) but it seems he can shrug off these responsibilities at his convenience. he definitely connects emotionally with all the roles he chooses for himself, but in the end, it's still all vague - nothing can really get to him. some things just come real close.
i'm actually enjoying hibari's anonymity. him being the strongest and us not knowing anything about HOW and WHY is a bit exciting. i really hope his backstory doesn't disappoint... but at this phase in my rabu, i'm pretty hard to disappoint. he could be a bored rich kid with two happy parents and an open menagerie of hibirds, i'd still think he's cute. ringtone and everything.
there's also that dude at the rightmost, who wears his hair curiously like hibari's right-hand man (with creative liberties taken as to the length and strength of the forelock, of course). then again, it's been a common hairstyle in shounen manga ever since that old-school gangster thing that preceded yuu yuu hakusho, i dunno the title anymore.
...i've been wanting to make brief fangirl-analyses of my favorite characters in reborn!, but i'm afraid i've been terrible at scheduling myself - rant of love will have to wait.
