So I'm back home after going to Austin on Tuesday and heading through College Station on Wednesday.
Austin was great. I woke up at 5:30 am so I would be sure to be able to make my 10:30 interview. I actually made it to the general area i needed to be in by about 9 so I drove around South Austin for an hour killing time before the interview. When I finally get to the interview I talk to about five people and I think they all went pretty well. It seems like a great company to work for and I think I'd really enjoy the people. It's not the exact job I was hoping for, but if they offer me one I'll probably take it unless. . .
It seems that I'm going back to Austin on Tuesday for an interview with the Texas Legislative Council. They're the people that do www.capitol.state.tx.us as well as other general computer work for the Texas Legislature. This one would actually be a programming job (a web programming job, which is sort of what I was looking for anyway).
So the plan is, tomorrow I email the HR person at AIS and send her a scan of my recipt for my hotel and my milage and also ask if they've made a decision. If she says that they plan on making me an offer. I hope that I'll be able to hold them off a little bit until I can see if the TLC is going to offer me a job and then I can choose the best one (if that happens, probably the TLC since it wouldn't be dependant on me getting a security clearance and it would be a programming job).
So here's hoping that one of those works out and I have an actual job in the near future in basically the coolest city in the world.
After my interview I went to the hotel to check in. Upon arrival I was informed that my room had been upgraded from two double beds to a king size bed. score. I get to my room change and call Chris to see what he's doing. We decide that he and Steph will come up to Austin from San Marcos (it's only about 30 minutes). So we get here and debate going to the Alamo Drafthouse, but decide that Steph can't wait that long to eat so we go to the mall and eat and generally be Mallrats. We go back to my room and they realize that that night was $.50 movie night in San Marcos so we decide to go there. After I get there I hit up the store for a few "provisions" and we consume some "provisions" before we head out to see Sin City, which is still awesome. After that I was tired as hell and left to go back to the hotel. I so missed a turn or two, but it didn't really matter since I always knew where I was. I slept and checked out the next day around 11:30.
After I checked out I made my way downtown to
one of the coolest record stores ever. I spent maybe 15 minutes in the store and spent $37. After that I left for College Station. I made it there about 2:30 and waited around in different places until 5:30 when Woot got off work. I went to the apartment, we sat around a bit and then went to Jin's. We decided we had to watch the Big Lebowski and took appropriate action. We went and retrieved Woot's vodka from Dave's (we needed white russians), met Chad at JJ's to grab some cigars, and went to HEB for some limes (kamakazes). We came and used all the things we just acquired, watched the movie, and gnereally hung out until we went to bed.
Long and boring, but hey that's really the most interesting things that have happened in weeks.
