The Weather

So we had a hurricane alert this week, what did this entail? It meant that a bunch of us in ACU had to be trained in emergency response which wasn't too bad honestly as it gave us somethign to do!

ACU by the way is the Navy's way of saying: "We know you have nothing to do, but since we don't want to pay you to do nothing, we're going to put you into this unit where you will pretend to do something even though you're actually doing nothing. You will do this so that we can say you're being paid to do something instead of nothing, even if you are actually doing nothing."

Anyways, back to the hurricane warning. The storm did hit eventually....for all of ten minutes or so. We had a brief spat of rain with thunder and lightning which was fun to watch. It interupted our GMT which wasn't so fun because I love marching and cadence both. However, for a hurricane it was rather lackluster I must say...honestly I don't know who the hell instigated the hurricane warning but I think their credentials need to be investigated.

Now the South really got it in the ass if you'll pardon my parlance.

Biggest tornado on record, over 300 people dead if I recall the figures correctly and miles upon miles of damage across multiple states. This thing was hell bent on challenging Katrina methinks! The aftermath is messy, and as usual the politicians couldn't resist a little publicity. Obama was wandering around the debris field shortly after the beast had dissipated finally.

The South really can't catch a break, I mean it wants to leave hte union, what happens? The North beats the shit out of it. It wants to oppress black people, what happens? The black people and liberal minded whites gang up on it. It wants to live peacefully, what happens? The weather comes and shits upon it. Can't catch a break at all can they.

With any luck, the hurricanes won't be very bad this year. I think the South has earned a little repieve don't you? We'll just have to see if the world at large agrees!
