Rant: The Quickies in Madison County

It's late around here, and in my lack of sleep I decided to write some things.

PSP: It seems like more "cleaned up" eroge are being released on PSP, which follows the supposed trend set by otome games, as well as companies like leaf and a couple of the other big ones. The more notable examples at the moment are Kazoku Keikaku, which has a set ( Read more... )

Chika's seiyuu doesn't ring any bells for me. Does her confectionary shop have any oblique references to famous Japanese candy companies, like Lotte, Glico, or Morinaga? And what kind of music does she like, anyhow?

I don't think I saw anything like the "buruma and panty" thief in the CGs, but I bet that must have been hilarious in the game.

The "rich bishounen," huh? The "tall, dark, handsome, and perfect stranger" has been a trope for female fantasies for a long time, but I think that kind of man has a bit more basis in reality than the female idols otaku worship.

Chika's VA was in Koihime, Figure@Mate, Ane to BOIN and a bunch of other eroge I am somewhat familiar with. While not officially stated anywhere, I have reason to suspect that another of her used aliases in Nene, who I remember best for voicing Shindou Mei in Akibakei Kanojo (either that or both just simply sound very much like each other >.>).

The side characters don't have much in terms of event CGs. Admitedly, it was indeed funny as hell to see her beat up the real thief.

That being said, the point the game tried to make was that girls like Chika and some of the other otaku characters are not that different, as both are chasing rainbows, in a way. Granted, at times we do have characters like Suguru in Majikoi or Nekomimi in Akigaku, who openly state their dislike of "sanjigen" (3-D, AKA real women) in favor of characters from games and anime. Both are still chasing rainbows, nevertheless.
