So, where have I been?

Well, I wish I could say that my life has changed much over these last 6 months....but really it hasn't. I've had a hand full of major events, but other than those, things are fairly status quo in my life right now.

What is the status quo you ask?? Well, right now my life is little more than work and WoW. I occasionally get to spend time with lawsoprano, but as you can imagine Law School keeps her pretty tied down.

Every so often I get together with people, usually a monthly gathering at quadong's to play Magic: The Gathering.

On the job front, I'm still with Merrill Corporation. Things here are... interesting. I really can't get into too much detail about it publicly. I'll just saying that things are tough for me here right now.

Festival season came to a close. Nothing really exciting happened this year, at least nothing that stood out in my mind. Though, I did make a new friend in flora_baggins. She and I have tried to get together for coffee at least once a week, but sometimes it doesn't work out (usually due to my work/raiding schedule.)

On the Festival front, I find myself at a crossroads still... uncertain if I'll go back, and if I do, will I still be with the Royal Guard. I've heard rumor of a possible Human Combat Chess match in the works, if that does end up happening, I'll probably audition for that as I've never really gotten a chance to put my stage fighting skills to use. But again, things are uncertain for me here.. time will tell I guess.

Shortly after Fest ended (early October) one of the guys in the Royal Guard, Sgt Wolf, got married. Much fun was had at the Batchlor Party and the Wedding reception.

A football season came and went. robertrence made a point have having a gathering at our house for all the Viking's games and the Superbowl. Was a good excuse to see people like alirose and grepper.

Christmas was kinda tough this year. lawsoprano and I ended up not going to Oklahoma to visit the parents as we had planned because my father was supposed to have an appointment wt the Mayo Clinic on Dec 24th. The best laid schemes o' Mice an' Men, Gang aft agley. Mom and Dad never made it up here as Dad had (what they thought at the time) a heart attack on Dec 22rd. He lived, but spent the better part of the next week in the Hospital while his doctors meddled with his medication load. My sister ended up making up and spent about a week and a half between my brother's and my houses between X-mas and New Years.

Christmas day was spent with family, Christmas morning at my Brother's and dinner/evening with my Brother's wife's family who were nice enough to invite lawsoprano, my sister, and I to join them.

lawsoprano, despite having hosted 2 or 3 gathering for her law school friends, still had a hostess hair running rampant in her. With alirose and grepper unable to host New Years as they have the past few years due to the birth of their daughter, lawsoprano decided that WE should host New Years. Things went great and a good time was had by all.

Middle of January, lawsoprano, Dragon, Goose, exle0002 and I made a trip out to Madison, WI for a weekend to link with with lewellye and Dickie to continue our Dungeon's and Dragon's campaign. Much fun was had, and it was good to see lewellye and shekka as I hadn't seen them since their wedding back this summer.

Dad did end up making it up here to the Mayo in late January. Not so surprisingly (as new details came to light between December and January) it turned out that dad's problems had not been cardiac, but gastro. More specifically there was a sphincter in his esophagus that was having spasms and was causing him to have some very painful heart burn episodes. How'd they treat it?? Botox. I kid you not. Last I heard from my parents, Dad's doing much better and can't wait to get back to playing golf.

Things on the World of Warcraft front have been, complicated, over the last few months. After repeated failures to get people organized and on the same page, I left Warband of Grey the tail end of August to try and find better raiding opportunities. This lead me to Devil's Horde. Unfortunately I joined DH while they were in a down swing. While I got to see new content, after a month and a half of no progression, a bunch of dedicated raiders (myself included) tried to spin off into a new guild. Things never really came together as we could seem to recruit the people we needed to get on our feet, and slowly the players we needed to stay started leaving. This was about the middle of Deceber.

After doing some looking of my own I came to 2 conclusions. 1) The raiding population of my server, Hellscream, wasn't what it used to be and there were really nothing but a bunch of egomaniac assholes in the guilds that were clearing the content I wanted to see. and 2) I had no chance or no desire to play with the groups that would allow me to see the content I wanted. I had a few choices available to me at this point... ultimately, I decided to seek raiding opportunities on another server.

After a short search, I came across a guild that has turned out to be a good fit. I ended up transferring to the Garona server and joining a guild named Shadows and Dust. While things got off to a rocky start, the guild has killed 4 new bosses since I've joined them and we're 1 boss kill away from being ready to progress into harder content. Needless to say, I've very pleased and I'm enjoying playing WoW again, which was something that I had struggled with most of 2007.

I have Con of the North coming up in about a week and a half that I'm really looking forward to. Additionally, baring the necessity to make an out of town trip for a wedding or some other major family thing, lawsoprano and I will hopefully be able to get out to visit Hunter and Remee in Washington D.C sometime this late Spring/Early summer.

So that's where things are at with me right now.
